INSURANCE SEMINAR FOR MANAGEMENT AND ADJUSTERS


A Program Developer and one or more mediators from Florida Mediation Group team teach and present a two part seminar on mediation. Part One emphasizes the programmatic approach to insurance related mediation including case selection and referral. The other is technical and emphasizes mediation preparation and skill development.

  3. ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE OF EACH PARTICIPANT IN A MEDIATION.

  4. RESPONSIBILITIES OF EACH PARTICIPANT IN PRESENTATION OF THEIR POSITION.

HOW TO LISTEN AND RECEIVE MESSAGES THE ATTORNEY AND/OR CLIENT ARE SENDING YOU.

HOW TO APPROPRIATELY SEND MESSAGES TO THE ATTORNEY AND/OR CLIENT.

THE ROLE OF F.M.G. IN RELAYING OFFERS AND ENCOURAGING ATTORNEYS TO AGREE.

THE RATIONALE FOR INVOLVEMENT IN THE PROGRAM.

THE DESIGN OF A MEDIATED SETTLEMENT DAY.


FORMAT FOR SEMINAR

FORMAT 1.

Two separate sessions one week apart. Each session will take one-two hours.

First Session: Presentation of basic rationale for the program and guidelines for case selection, preparation and presentation. Adjusters will be given two documents:

  1. SELECTING CASES FOR MEDIATION.

  2. PREPARING CASES FOR MEDIATION.

During the week after the initial presentation they will be encouraged to choose three-five cases for presentation at the second session.

Second Session: Adjusters will view a video of a mock mediation. Following the video presentation each adjuster will be given an opportunity to make an opening statement for one of the cases selected by them. In a round table discussion the attorney/mediator presenter along with the insurance managers and/or claims counsel will critique the adjusters' statement and suggest changes or additions.

FORMAT 2.

One session of one-three hours providing an abridged presentation. Adjusters are encouraged beforehand to bring cases along which can be discussed. Company management can follow-up on their own and utilize F.M.G. as consultation resource. Inclusion of the materials listed above for presentation will be predicted on time allotment.
